ORMES

WHOOP’s price isn’t paid once: it renews every year. Here is the full sum.

An annual cost looks very different when you project it over several years.
Quick answer

WHOOP costs €199 a year with the One membership, €264 with Peak and €399 with Life, according to its website for Spain. The device is included, but the fee renews: over 3 years that is €597, €792 or €1,197. A screen-free band with a single payment, like the Ormes H59, costs €90 once.

When you look up WHOOP’s price you don’t find the price of a device, but of a membership. That changes the question: it’s no longer how much it costs, but how much you’ll pay for as long as you wear it.

Here is the sum with the prices WHOOP publishes today for Spain, and the same sum with a band you pay for once. This article is written by Ormes, which sells one of those bands, the H59.

WHOOP’s three prices and what each includes

WHOOP sells three annual memberships. All three include the device, a charger, a strap and access to its app.

The sum over 1, 2, 3 and 5 years

You wear a band like this for years, so the number that matters is the running total. This table assumes today’s price doesn’t change at renewal.

What’s worth knowing before you pay

  • When the clock starts: the membership begins when you pair the device, or 30 days after it ships.
  • Free trial: WHOOP offers a one-month trial of the Peak membership with the WHOOP 5.0.
  • Returns: you can cancel and return the device within 30 days of receiving it, for a full refund minus the shipping cost.
  • Changing membership: you can upgrade at any time by paying the pro-rated difference. If you downgrade, the change applies at the end of the period you have already paid for.

And if you pay just once

There are screen-free bands you buy like any other device: you pay, it’s yours and nothing renews. Here is the same sum for the three with an official product page in Spain.

The Ormes H59 costs €90 and that is where the sum ends. It tracks heart rate, steps, activity and sleep, works with a free app, and you can pay on delivery. If you want to see the three compared point by point, they are in our comparison of WHOOP alternatives with no subscription.

When the fee is worth paying

The fee makes sense if you’ll use what only WHOOP offers: its Recovery and Strain scores or, with the Life membership, ECG and blood pressure. If you train seriously and look at that data every day, it’s for you.

If what you want is to know how much you move and how you sleep, you’re paying every year for features you won’t open. You don’t need the most expensive option to move more: a review published in The Lancet Digital Health in 2022, covering 39 reviews and almost 164,000 participants, found that people using activity trackers took about 1,800 more steps a day. The study is about activity trackers in general, not one specific model.

Who the Ormes H59 is not for

The H59 tracks the basics: heart rate, steps, activity and sleep. We don’t advertise GPS, ECG or blood oxygen measurement, and it doesn’t have WHOOP’s scores. It isn’t a medical device either: its data is indicative.

In short

WHOOP costs between €199 and €399 for every year you wear it. If you use what makes it different, it’s a good product. If you want a screen-free band for the basics, the Ormes H59 is paid for once, with pay on delivery and 30 days to return it.
